Granny's Glasses Look Good

Are fake glasses okay to wear? Or are they a little bit ridiculous, and a wee bit pretentious, a la Nelly circa 2002 with that bandaid...

At their most basic level, glasses simply function as removable appendage that aids vision, much in the way that headgear does for teeth, or Michael Jackson's nose does for Michael Jackson.  Yet for one reason or another, whether it be extreme unattractiveness (headgear), or  unavailability (MJ's nose), people aren't rushing to purchase either of those.
Well judging from Catherine Holstein's show which debuted last Friday night as a prelude to New York's fashion week, fake glasses have become somewhat ubiquitous among certain crowds.  In particular, I am thinking of those who perhaps have too much love for all things spandex and colorful, the American Apparel-ites, who also think it nothing to spend upwards of $50 on a pair of fake glasses.  If your wallet is a bit thinner and/or you are not a devotee of Dov Charney, fake glasses can be found on ebay for under $10.
